Ohmstead Plumbing is so grateful to be able to provide indoor and outdoor plumbing services to Rutherford and Polk County all year round. The Thanksgiving season has us feeling that gratitude even more so. But, as much as we feel this calling, we are also inspired this time of year to expand our areas of service to include those who need our help, beyond the pipes, in our NC communities. We thought you might be similarly inclined, especially with all we’ve endured over the past couple of years. Here’s a small list of charities we found that inspired us. We hope they inspire you, too!
Outreach is located in the Blue Ridge Mountains, just east of Tryon, NC. Since 1991, Outreach has provided families and individuals in need in Polk County with food, heat and housing. Whether it’s a short-term crisis, or long-term poverty, Outreach steps in to help through many programs and initiatives, including their Feed-a-Kid Program, which provides healthy meals to hundreds of Polk County children.
We are so grateful for the natural splendor we get to enjoy in North Carolina. It’s important to acknowledge our responsibility in keeping these lands and waters pristine for the wildlife, and generations to come. Conserving Carolina works to protect, restore, and teach appreciation for the natural beauty that surrounds us. They help restore woods, meadows and wetlands, and engage people through hikes and outings, even creating new trails, parks and greenways. Their speaker series are informative and inspiring, covering numerous topics, such as native plant gardening, and more.
Rutherford County Schools Education Foundation Inc
If education is power (and it is) Rutherford County Schools Education Foundation (RCSEF) is like a can of spinach for Popeye. RCSEF enriches the learning process for of Rutherford County Schools’ students by providing resources beyond those provided by traditional funding sources.
If you’re a lover of kitties, consider donating time or resources to this sweet non-profit, dedicated to providing a safe place for “unadoptable” blind cats, who would have otherwise been euthanized. Their resident population has since expanded to include Leukemia positive (FELV+) and Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV+) cats. You can help keep the purrs going.
